Exam Board & Format
King Edward VI Grammar School selects pupils through the Consortium of Selective Schools in Essex (CSSE) 11+ examination, shared by the consortium’s ten grammar schools, so a child registers and sits the test only once for any of them. The CSSE 11+ tests academic ability rather than reasoning skills: it comprises an English paper covering comprehension and creative writing, and a Mathematics paper covering Key Stage 2 National Curriculum topics. There is no Verbal or Non-Verbal Reasoning component.
