11 Plus Tuition for Mayfield Grammar School

Mayfield Grammar School was founded in 1914 as the County School for Girls, was formerly known as Gravesend Grammar School for Girls, and moved to its present site in 1926. It is a selective girls’ grammar school in Gravesend, Kent, with a co-educational sixth form, and converted to academy status in 2012.

Mayfield Grammar School has a Published Admission Number of 180 places for Year 7 each year. The school is popular and oversubscribed, making thorough Kent Test or Mayfield Test preparation essential.

Mayfield Grammar School uses either the Kent Test (PESE), provided by GL Assessment, or its own optional Mayfield Test. The Kent Test covers English, Maths and reasoning, while the Mayfield Test offers a further opportunity to demonstrate suitability. A child needs to meet the standard in only one of the tests.

The Mayfield Test is the school’s own optional entrance assessment, taken alongside the Kent Test, which gives girls a further opportunity to show their suitability for a grammar school place. It is registered for separately from the Kent Test, with details published on the school website.

Registration for the 2026 Kent Test opens on Monday 1st June 2026 and closes at midnight on Wednesday 1st July 2026 through the Kent County Council website. The optional Mayfield Test is registered for separately through the school’s own application form.
