11 Plus Tuition for Reading Boys School

Reading School, also known as Reading Boys, was established as part of Reading Abbey in 1125, making it one of the oldest schools in England. It gained academy status in 2011 and today educates boys aged 11 to 18 across day and boarding places.

Reading School has approximately 150 Year 7 places each year, made up of day places and a smaller number of boarding places. Entry is extremely competitive, with far more applicants than places, so only top-scoring candidates are offered places.

Reading School uses a bespoke entrance test provided by Future Stories Community Enterprise (FSCE). For 2026 entry onwards, it covers a range of Key Stage 2 subjects through multiple-choice, short-written-answer and creative-response papers, testing content taught up to the end of Year 5.

Reading School has a defined catchment area for day places, and applicants living within it are prioritised. Boarding applicants are not subject to a catchment requirement. Day applicants living outside the catchment sit the test on a separate later date and are only considered if places remain.

For 2026 entry, registration for the Reading School entrance test opens on Wednesday, 25th March 2026 and closes on Sunday, 17th May 2026. Registration is completed online directly with the school, separately from any other grammar school.
