The St Michael’s Catholic Grammar School entrance test is the GL Assessment 11+, sat on Friday, 11th September 2026, alongside the school’s faith-based Supplementary Information Form. Here is everything you need to know about the admissions process and exam structure.
St Michael’s Catholic Grammar School selects pupils through the GL Assessment 11+. Children take four papers on exam day – English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning – all in multiple-choice format, with English and Maths based on the Key Stage 2 curriculum. As a Catholic school, it also applies faith-based oversubscription criteria, supported by a Supplementary Information Form.
The St Michael’s Catholic Grammar School 11+ is sat in a single session on Friday, 11th September 2026, at the school. Children complete the four multiple-choice papers, which are computer-marked and age-standardised so that younger children are not disadvantaged. Candidates are then ranked from highest to lowest score, with faith criteria applied to allocate places.
Registration opens on the school’s website from Tuesday, 14th April 2026, and the Supplementary Information Form and all supporting documents must be submitted by 4pm on Tuesday, 7th July 2026; late applications cannot be accepted. Applicants applying as Baptised or Practising Catholics must provide a Certificate of Baptism and, where relevant, a Certificate of Catholic Practice. Parents must name the school on the Barnet Common Application Form by 31st October 2026.
The test is sat on Friday, 11th September 2026, with results emailed to parents in mid-October 2026, before the Common Application Form deadline. Girls are ranked by score, and places are then allocated within the school’s faith-based criteria, so meeting the standard does not guarantee a place. School allocations are confirmed on national offer day, 1st March 2027.
