Upton Court Grammar School is a co-educational selective grammar school located on Lascelles Road in Slough, Berkshire. With specialisms in languages and science, the school has earned an outstanding academic reputation and some of the strongest GCSE results in the country.
Upton Court Grammar School began as Slough Secondary School in 1912 and has a long and layered history, having existed as separate boys’ and girls’ grammar schools before merging and relaunching under its current name in 2013 following a major rebuild. It gained academy status in 2011 and is part of the Pioneer Educational Trust.

The Upton Court Grammar School entrance test is administered through the Slough Consortium of Grammar Schools. Here is everything you need to know about the admissions process and exam structure.
The Slough Consortium consists of four grammar schools in Slough – Herschel Grammar School, Langley Grammar School, St Bernard’s Catholic Grammar School and Upton Court Grammar School – that share a single 11 plus entrance examination. Upton Court Grammar School uses the Slough Consortium test results to determine eligibility for a place. The test is provided by GL Assessment and all questions are multiple-choice.
The Slough Consortium 11 plus consists of two papers, each lasting around one hour, sat on the same day with a short break in between. The papers cover Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, English and Mathematics. Answers are recorded on a separate answer sheet and marked using Optical Mark Recognition (OMR).
Registration is completed online through the Slough Consortium portal. For the 2026 examination, registration opens on Friday 1st May 2026 and closes on Friday 5th June 2026. One registration covers all four consortium schools. A child sits the exam in Year 6, in September, for entry to Year 7 the following September.
Results are made available online in mid-October 2026, before the Common Application Form deadline of 31st October 2026. A standardised score of 111 or above means a child is eligible for consideration for a grammar school place, placing them in approximately the top 35% of the cohort. School allocations are confirmed on National Offer Day in March 2027.

Upton Court Grammar School does not operate a geographic catchment area. Entry is based first on reaching the eligibility score in the Slough Consortium 11 plus, after which places are allocated using its oversubscription criteria. Priority is given in order to looked-after children, then up to 20 places for children eligible for Pupil Premium, then children of Pioneer Educational Trust staff, then children attending the designated feeder schools (Foxborough Primary School and Trevelyan Middle School), then up to 120 places by rank order of test score, with any remaining places allocated by proximity to the school.
