Typically an unseen comprehension passage with a mix of retrieval, inference, language and personal response questions, followed by an extended creative writing task. Some schools also include discrete vocabulary, spelling, punctuation or grammar sections.
Usually 45 to 75 minutes in total, with roughly 30 minutes allocated to the writing task. The timing is printed on each paper, so use that rather than a general rule.
