Aquinas Diocesan Grammar School was established by the Diocese of Down and Connor and admitted its first 110 pupils in September 1993. It is a co-educational Catholic Maintained grammar school on the Ravenhill Road in Belfast.

Aquinas Diocesan Grammar School admits around 150 pupils into Year 8 each year. The school is popular and competitive, so thorough preparation for the SEAG Entrance Assessment is important.

Aquinas Diocesan Grammar School uses the SEAG Entrance Assessment, set by GL Assessment. It consists of two papers, each around 60 minutes, covering English and Maths from the Key Stage 2 Northern Ireland curriculum. Paper 1 is on Saturday, 14th November 2026 and Paper 2 on Saturday, 21st November 2026.

Aquinas Diocesan Grammar School does not operate a fixed catchment area, but its admissions criteria reflect its Catholic Maintained ethos, prioritising factors such as family and parish connections and feeder primary schools when it is oversubscribed, rather than distance alone.

For 2027 entry, SEAG registration opens on Monday, 18th May 2026 and closes on Friday, 18th September 2026, with a £20 fee (FSME families exempt). The two papers are sat on Saturday, 14th November 2026 and Saturday, 21st November 2026.
