11 Plus Tuition for Assumption Grammar School

Assumption Grammar School was founded by the Missionary Sisters of the Assumption in 1933 and approved by the Ministry of Education in 1936. It is a Catholic girls’ grammar school in Ballynahinch, County Down, and the only Assumption school in Ireland.

Assumption Grammar School admits around 150 girls into Year 8 each year and has over 900 students in total. The school is popular and competitive, so thorough preparation for the SEAG Entrance Assessment is important.

Assumption Grammar School uses the SEAG Entrance Assessment, set by GL Assessment. It consists of two papers, each around 60 minutes, covering English and Maths from the Key Stage 2 Northern Ireland curriculum. Paper 1 is on Saturday, 14th November 2026 and Paper 2 on Saturday, 21st November 2026.

Assumption Grammar School does not operate a fixed catchment area and draws pupils from across South Down and Belfast. Its admissions criteria reflect its Catholic ethos, prioritising factors such as religious ethos, family connections and feeder primary schools when it is oversubscribed.

For 2027 entry, SEAG registration opens on Monday, 18th May 2026 and closes on Friday, 18th September 2026, with a £20 fee (FSME families exempt). The two papers are sat on Saturday, 14th November 2026 and Saturday, 21st November 2026.
