Churston Ferrers Grammar School selects pupils through the Torbay 11+, the shared test produced by GL Assessment and used by the Torbay Consortium of grammar schools, so a child sits the test once for the consortium schools. The test consists of two multiple-choice papers, each lasting around 60 minutes – an English paper and a Mathematics paper – based on the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
The Torbay 11+ is sat on Saturday, 12th September 2026. Children take the two multiple-choice papers – English and Mathematics – each lasting around 60 minutes, with answers recorded on separate sheets. Scores are age-standardised so younger children are not disadvantaged, and candidates are then ranked against the qualifying standard.
Registration is completed by submitting the school’s own application form, available on the school’s website, by the deadline (usually in July).
