Exam Board & Format
The Harvey Grammar School offers two routes to selective eligibility. Most boys sit the Kent Test (PESE), provided by GL Assessment and used by most Kent grammar schools, covering English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning in multiple-choice format. Alternatively, boys may sit the Shepway Test, run jointly with The Folkestone School for Girls, which is a computerised CEM assessment plus a creative writing task and effectively gives a second opportunity to show selective ability. A child needs to meet the standard in only one of the two tests.
