The Heckmondwike Grammar School entrance test is the FSCE 11+, sat on Monday, 14th September 2026. Here is everything you need to know about the admissions process and exam structure.
Heckmondwike Grammar School selects pupils through the FSCE (Future Stories Community Enterprise) 11+. For 2027 entry the test has three papers: Paper 1 contains English and Maths questions in multiple-choice format, Paper 2 contains English and Maths questions in a short written-answer (constrained-response) format, and Paper 3 is a Creativity question requiring a written creative response. The test is built around the Key Stage 2 curriculum up to the end of Year 5.
The Heckmondwike Grammar School FSCE 11+ is sat on Monday, 14th September 2026, at the school. Children complete the three papers – multiple-choice, short written answer and a creative response – with all written elements taken on the same day. Results are fully standardised and age-weighted so that younger children are not disadvantaged, before candidates are ranked.
Year 7 admission is managed by Kirklees Council; families must include Heckmondwike Grammar School on the local authority Common Application Form and also register the child through the school’s own website.
