Exam Board & Format
King Edward VI Handsworth Grammar School for Boys selects pupils through the West Midlands Grammar Schools Entrance Test, provided by GL Assessment and shared by the grammar schools across Birmingham and the wider West Midlands partnership, so a child registers and sits the test only once for any of them. The test consists of two papers, each lasting approximately 60 minutes (including time for instructions and example questions), divided into individually timed sections covering English Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Mathematics and Non-Verbal & Spatial Reasoning. All questions are multiple-choice, with answers recorded on a separate answer sheet, and there is no writing component.
