11 Plus Tuition for Newport Girls' High School

Yes. Newport Girls' High School is a selective girls’ grammar school in Newport, Shropshire, with a co-educational sixth form, for ages 11 to 18. It holds academy status and serves Newport and the wider Telford and Wrekin area.

Newport Girls' High School has a Published Admission Number of around 90 places for Year 7 each year, making it one of the smaller grammar schools in the partnership. It is competitive, so thorough preparation for the West Midlands Grammar Schools Entrance Test is important.

Newport Girls' High School uses the West Midlands Grammar Schools Entrance Test, provided by GL Assessment. It consists of two papers of around 60 minutes, divided into timed sections covering English Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning, Maths and Non-Verbal & Spatial Reasoning, all multiple-choice, sat on Saturday 12th September 2026.

Newport Girls' High School uses a category-based system that gives priority to girls who attend a Telford and Wrekin primary school and to girls living within the catchment area who achieve the qualifying score. Girls from outside the area can still be considered, ranked by score, but location is an important factor when it is oversubscribed.

The entrance test is held on Saturday 12th September 2026. Registration is completed online through the West Midlands Grammar Schools website; for 2027 entry it opened on 5th May 2026 and closes at 4 pm on Friday 26th June 2026, with no late registrations permitted.

Yes. Newport Girls' High School offers a broad enrichment programme across sport, music, drama, the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and a variety of clubs and societies, supporting pupils’ wider development alongside strong academic results.
