The Spalding High School entrance test is the Lincolnshire Consortium 11 plus, shared across the county’s grammar schools. Here is everything you need to know about the Spalding High School admissions criteria and exam structure.
Spalding High School belongs to the Lincolnshire Consortium of Grammar Schools and selects pupils on academic ability through the shared 11 plus. The test consists of two multiple-choice papers taken on consecutive Saturdays. The first paper is verbal reasoning and the second paper is non-verbal and spatial reasoning, both provided by GL Assessment.
The verbal reasoning paper has 80 questions across 15 sections with a time limit of 50 minutes, and the non-verbal and spatial reasoning paper has 70 questions across 5 individually timed sections. Scores are age-standardised, and the county standard for a Lincolnshire grammar place is a combined standardised score of 220 across both papers.
Parents register their daughter for the Lincolnshire 11 plus using the registration form, available from Lincolnshire feeder primary schools or the school website. Registration forms are issued in Year 5, and parents must also name Spalding High School on their local authority Common Application Form, which is due by the 31st October.
Test results are sent to parents in mid-October, after which families confirm their secondary school preferences through their local authority. School place offers are confirmed on National Offer Day in early March. Achieving the county standard does not guarantee a place, as the school applies oversubscription criteria when demand is high.
