Weald of Kent Grammar School is a selective girls’ grammar school with a co-educational sixth form, with its main campus on Tudeley Lane in Tonbridge, Kent, and a second campus in Sevenoaks. The school holds specialisms in languages and science and has a strong track record of academic success.
Weald of Kent Grammar School has educated girls for over a century and gained academy status. In 2015 the government gave permission for the school to open an ‘annexe’ in Sevenoaks, which opened in 2017 as the first new grammar school provision of its kind in decades, allowing the school to admit girls across two campuses.

The Weald of Kent Grammar School entrance test is the Kent Test or the school’s own Weald Grammar Assessment, administered with Kent County Council. Here is everything you need to know about the admissions process and exam structure.
Weald of Kent Grammar School selects pupils mainly through the Kent Test (PESE), provided by GL Assessment and used by most Kent grammar schools, covering English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning in multiple-choice format. In addition, the school offers its own Weald Grammar Assessment, registered for separately, which provides a further opportunity for girls to demonstrate their suitability for a grammar school place.
The Kent Test consists of two papers, each lasting around one hour – one English and Maths paper and one reasoning paper (verbal and non-verbal reasoning) – plus a separate writing task of around 40 minutes that is used only in borderline cases. All scores are age-standardised so that younger children are not disadvantaged. The Weald Grammar Assessment is administered by the school, with details and registration published on the school website ahead of the entry round.
Registration for the Kent Test is completed online through the Kent County Council website, opening on Monday 1st June 2026 and closing at midnight on Wednesday 1st July 2026. Registration for the Weald Grammar Assessment is completed separately through the school’s own application form. Parents must then name Weald of Kent Grammar School (and the preferred campus) on the Kent Secondary Common Application Form by 31st October 2026.
The Kent Test takes place in September of Year 6, with results issued by Kent County Council on Thursday 15th October 2026, before the Common Application Form deadline. To be assessed as suitable for grammar school, a child needs a total aggregate score of 332 or more, with no single score below 106. School allocations are confirmed on national offer day, 1st March 2027. A qualifying result in the Weald Grammar Assessment provides a further route to a Year 7 place across the school’s two campuses.
