Dragon Boat Festival Fair 2025[/caption]The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is a traditional Chinese holiday celebrated to honour the famous poet Qu Yuan. Families gather to race dragon boats, make and eat Zongzi (sticky rice dumplings), and enjoy the arrival of summer with joyful celebrations. At Pass 11 Plus Grammar, we believe that education goes beyond the classroom. This event brings to life the themes of heritage, storytelling, and creativity - all in a family-friendly format.

Featured Activities at the Festival

All activities are thoughtfully designed to help children understand the cultural roots of the Dragon Boat Festival while having a blast!

1. Archery Game โ€“ โ€œShoot the Five Poisonsโ€

This ancient Chinese custom involved shooting arrows at targets painted with five poisonous creatures - scorpion, snake, centipede, gecko and toad - to ward off summer illnesses and bad luck. Children can practise their archery skills while having great fun with this traditional game.

2. Fishing Game โ€“ "Chinese Character Fishing"

Children use miniature fishing rods to "catch" little fish marked with specific Chinese characters or pinyin. Helps kids recognize basic characters while developing hand-eye coordination.

3. Unlocking the "Luban Lock"

Challenge your mind with this ancient Chinese puzzle! Kids will discover the magic of traditional carpentry as they take apart and reassemble this 2,500-year-old 3D puzzle invented by master craftsman Lu Ban.

4. Zongzi Paper Craft Workshop

Instead of real treats, children will enjoy making zongzi (traditional sticky rice dumplings) using paper and fabric. They'll learn why these dumplings are thrown into rivers during the Dragon Boat Festival.

5. Mini Dragon Boat Craft & Racing

One of the highlights of the event! Children will create their own mini dragon boats using craft materials and take them home for exciting dragon boat races.

6. Short Animated Film โ€“ Qu Yuan & Dragon Boat Festival

Gather around for an engaging animated story about Qu Yuan - the patriotic poet, and discover how his legend inspired the Dragon Boat Festival traditions we celebrate today.

7. Quiz Challenge with Rewards

After the movie, children can participate in a fun Q&A session. Little winners who answer correctly will receive limited-edition Dragon Boat Festival themed stickers (collect enough to redeem fabulous prizes) - making cultural learning full of wonderful surprises!

8. Sticker Collection & Premium Redemption

Kids earn exclusive Dragon Boat Festival stickers at each activity station! A completed sticker card can be redeemed for a limited-edition gift set๏ผ
